Bear's Book Reviews
 January 21, 2008--
“ Who Stole My Church”
Author: Gordon MacDonald
Publisher: Nelson 2007 - 248 page Hardback
Market target: Church leaders
Format: Novel
Our Rating: Excellent – Well worth the time - all leaders should read. Belongs in church library. Content: This novel is designed to present church growth concepts of varied positions and opinions in the real church world. It is set in the ubiquitous church committee (plus or minus 15 members) whose function is to explore occurring dynamic change versus inertia of stability. It neither apologizes for loss change brings (15%) nor avoids the dynamics of change. It will challenge by its stealth format supplying information in a fun read. Enjoyable! READERS WANTED
We are looking for a few good readers who love history, romance and the first and second centuries. We invite you to aid the Bear with opinions and suggestions after reading his novel Marcellus.

A Christian romance novel set in the year 100 A.D. Drusilla, a senator’s widow and the House Church’s patron, is dedicating the first church building in Rome. Invited for the weekend are Rome’s premier command Tribune, Marcellus, and his three man staff. Drusilla’s youngest daughter is to be married to a senator almost twice her age, and an advocate of the emperor worship. There is the wedding; a military display of sorts in the horror ridden Colosseum; a dinner party; the dedication service; a quiet lakeside evening that involves an ambush and the farewell. Then there is the defect that kept the beautiful Corinna, Drusilla’s older daughter, single and available for the giant Centurion.

How it works: We will send you, via e-mail, a chapter at a time. Chapters print out to about 13 pages. Finish one chapter and give us your impressions and the next will be sent.

There is no cost or obligation; our desire is that you enjoy this ancient period as it comes alive with Marcellus and his command group, Drusilla and her daughters and friend Prisca.

Our objective is to get feedback and improve a novel, whose purpose is the exploration of turn of the first century Christianity.

If you like history, romance and contributing to the Christian community, then send us an e-mail, put your slippers on, curl up in your favorite chair and explore Marcellus.

Can a Roman command Tribune find happiness with a Christian matron whose life objective is a ministry to the Widows? Can a battle scarred Centurion ever develop a relationship? Was there a battle over the manuscripts of the NT?
Did the first congregations face the abortion issue?
Read for fun and learn a bunch.

Go directly to Contact us and we will get the first chapter to you.
