Mr. John A. Tice weekly squeezes into the Bear’s office and
announces his retirement. During the ensuing discussion a decision is made
to move a wall, reconfigure a store or possibly change a store front. Mr.
Tice grabs the paper and pencil and proceeds to lay out the plans,
materials, time frame and hire the crew. Upon completion of the project, Mr.
Tice squeezes into the Bear’s office and the cycle starts again!
Mr. Tice serves as Tee & Cee Associates Chairman of the Board and is a
major stock holder in the corporation. While Mr. Tice is not involved in the
daily operations, he checks in daily and all major decisions are approved by
him prior to institution.
Mr. Tice is a life-long resident or the Twin Tiers Area having been born
just south of the border in the mountains of Pennsylvania. He served with the US
Marines in W.W.II in some of that ugly fighting in the South Pacific. He
later became plant Engineer at Bendix (Fassett). Mr. Tice has served on
local and national organizations of the Church of The Nazarene. He resides
with his wife Ruby in Elmira Heights and almost daily checks the gang out at
the Branch. |
Mr. Barry L.
Colyer is lovingly referred to by his wife Connie, as
The Bear, but no one is really sure whether he is cuddly or the griz. You
might check out Galatians 6:2 yourself to find out. The Bear was a former
candy chemist with several large food companies. He served as an Officer in
the Army after graduating from Gettysburg College. He then received a
masters degree from Wheaton College in Church History and Greek. You may
still find him pouring over some translation when everyone else is really
working! The Bear is responsible for the day to day operations and is
usually seeking to squeeze the last cent out of the system. Oh yes, he
claims to be an avid daily runner, but we suspect he is really goofing off.
There are some that say he looks like Colonel Sanders of the chicken fame. But
we think he really looks like an old gray bear. |
Mrs.
Connie Colyer, Constance (don’t ever call her that) is the Bear’s
wife, but more importantly manages The Giving Tree. She also does most
purchasing for the corporation and supervises the Bear (you know, care and
feeding, etc.) Connie holds a degree from The Kings College and another from
Glassboro State in education. Connie has taught school in both the secular
and private school systems as well as on the Mission field. This
talented lady hand chooses much of the product that you see in The Olive Branch.
Connie is the mother of three boys. The Bear claims to have been involved
somewhat or more precisely somehow. The young lads are now full grown men - afraid of no one except Mom.

Mrs.
Carol Norton, whose real name is not Carol, but
then she never answers to her real name (so as long as the IRS has it
straight it isn’t necessary for you or me). She is the soft spoken lady
who works everywhere and quite frankly does everything. Usually you can find
her in the back of the Branch working in church supplies. There is never a
task that she will turn down, and she goes 110% to satisfy a customer. She
is a mom with several sons at home and understands the care and feeding of
her pastor husband, George. She is intimately involved with her church and
understands the stresses of being a Pastor's wife. |
